Commerce, fashion and services
Fashion is a hallmark of Fortaleza's economy. Apparel makers of all sizes, from beachwear to denim and lingerie, supply retailers from several regions, and the wholesale trade downtown attracts buyers from other states. Around this chain live suppliers of fabric, trimmings, printing, packaging, transport and retail technology.
Aldeota, Meireles and Varjota concentrate offices, medical practices, commerce and corporate services. Downtown keeps the popular and wholesale trade. Tourism sustains hotels, restaurants and a supplier chain that runs from industrial laundries to food distribution. Private healthcare and education also buy a lot from other companies.
Pecém, Mucuripe and the metropolitan region
The Pecém Industrial and Port Complex, in São Gonçalo do Amarante, gathers steelmaking, energy, an export processing zone and projects linked to green hydrogen. The Port of Mucuripe, within the city, handles general cargo and fuels. Maracanaú, with its industrial district, and Caucaia, Eusébio and Aquiraz complete the metropolitan region with industry, logistics, business parks and services.
Fortaleza is also the landing point of several submarine data cables, which attracts data centers and technology and telecommunications companies. In the interior, footwear has important hubs in Sobral and in the Cariri region, and irrigated fruit growing drives another supplier chain.
Anyone who wants to follow the state's business environment can follow the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará (FIEC), the Commercial Association of Ceará, CDL Fortaleza (the city's retailers' association), Fecomércio-CE and Sebrae Ceará. They are mentioned only as context, with no partnership with the platform.
Why the online format works for companies in Fortaleza
A business trip from Fortaleza to São Paulo, Curitiba or Porto Alegre means a long flight, a hotel and, in practice, two days away from the company. For an apparel maker whose owner also oversees production, or for a three-person consultancy, this severely limits how many doors can be knocked on each month.
The online round solves that part. Meetings are short, happen back to back and fit into a single work shift. You talk to companies from different regions on the same day, with no airfare and without leaving operations. If you want to compare, calculate the cost of getting there for an in-person meeting with your company's data.
Since each meeting is short, preparation makes a difference. Build your introduction with the pitch generator and, if you are not yet sure what to look for, take the networking diagnostic to understand where your contact network needs to grow.
