Imagine the owner of a small electrical supplies distributor in Goiânia who joins a business conversation with the buyer of a construction company. The first question is simple: "what do you do?". He starts with the company's history, moves on to the brands he carries and, by the time he gets to what matters, the time is up. A sales pitch solves exactly this moment: a short, rehearsed answer that says what you sell, to whom and why the conversation is worth continuing. To get a first draft in a few minutes, use the sales pitch generator, which builds the 60-second and 30-second versions from a handful of questions. Then use this guide to adjust the text until it sounds like you.
Sales pitch or investor pitch: which one you need
When people hear the word pitch, many think of a startup presenting to an investment fund, with slides and market size. A sales pitch is for a different conversation: between companies that might buy from each other, refer each other or partner up. It has no slides and asks for no money. It asks for the next conversation.
| Point | Sales pitch | Investor pitch |
|---|---|---|
| Who listens | A buyer, manager or owner of another company | An investor or a fund |
| What they want to know | Whether you solve a problem they have | Whether the business can grow and pay back |
| Length | From 30 seconds to one minute, spoken | Several minutes, with slides |
| Main subject | The client and the problem you solve | Market, team, figures and plan |
| What it asks for at the end | A question and the next conversation | Investment |
If your goal is to sell to other companies, find a supplier or set up a commercial partnership, the sales pitch is the one you need.
Build the sales pitch in five parts
At a calm pace, one minute holds about 150 words. So each part has a job, and none of them can be wasted.
1. Who you are
The company name, the city and, if it helps, your own name and role. One sentence is enough. The founding story can wait until the other person asks.
2. What you do, in the client's words
Describe what you deliver the way your client would describe it. "Integrated facilities management solutions" says nothing. "We take care of cleaning and maintenance for offices" says it all.
3. Who it is for
Name the kind of company you serve best: industry, size, region. The more specific you are, the easier it is for the other person to know whether they are that client or know someone who is. If that answer is still fuzzy, the ideal customer profile tool helps you write it down, and the guide on how to define your ideal customer explains the reasoning behind it.
4. What changes for the client
This is not your list of services. It is what becomes different once a company starts working with you: less rework, deliveries on time, one less thing to worry about. Put it in terms the other person recognizes, and do not promise a figure you cannot back up on the spot.
5. What you are looking for, and the closing question
Say why you are in the conversation (clients, suppliers, partners or sales representatives) and finish with a question about the other company. The question is what turns a presentation into a conversation. "How do you handle this today?" works in almost every industry.
How to introduce yourself in a short meeting
The pitch is only the opening. In a conversation of a few minutes, like the ones in an online business round, say the pitch, ask the question and leave most of the time to the other company.
- Start with them, if you can: if you read the company's profile (in an online round, it shows on screen when the conversation opens), one sentence about it ("I saw you work with hospitals") shows this is not a generic conversation.
- Adjust to the person in front of you: for a buyer, stress lead times and supply terms; for a potential partner, the kind of client you have in common.
- Close with a next step: sending material, booking a longer call, introducing someone. Agreeing on that step is the goal of a short meeting, not closing the deal right there.
In an online round on the platform, there is no schedule before the event: pairs are formed on the spot, among those present, and each conversation opens with the person's name, the company, what they are looking for and the reason for the match. Read that card in the first few seconds and adapt the first sentence of your pitch to it. To understand the format, see how a business round works. 10 sales pitch examples by industry
The examples below are for fictional companies. Each one holds the core of the pitch in two or three sentences and ends with what the company is looking for or with a question: add the part that is missing and swap the city and the client for yours.
Manufacturing
Example: "We are a metalworking company in Caxias do Sul that makes stamped parts to drawing for agricultural machinery manufacturers. We work with small and medium batches, which large stamping plants usually turn down. I am looking for manufacturers that rely on a single supplier for these parts."
B2B services
Example: "We are a cleaning and building maintenance company in Campinas. We serve offices and clinics that want one supplier for cleaning and small repairs, with a dedicated person who knows the building. How do you handle office maintenance today?"
Distribution
Example: "We are an electrical supplies distributor in Goiânia serving installers and small construction companies. We deliver to the job site, with the material separated by construction stage. I want to meet construction companies that currently buy from several suppliers at once."
Technology
Example: "We are a software house in Recife that builds scheduling systems for clinics and laboratories. The system confirms appointments through the patient's WhatsApp and takes that work off the front desk. What system do you use today?" See more templates in the pitch generator for technology companies.
Accounting
Example: "We are an accounting firm in Londrina that serves small manufacturers and wholesalers. Every month, we sit down with the owner to explain the numbers and the decisions they call for. Who keeps track of your company's numbers today?" There are more variations in the pitch generator for accounting firms.
Construction
Example: "We are a construction company in Joinville that renovates and expands warehouses and stores without stopping the client's operation. We plan the work in stages, at the times when the company can free up the space. Do you have any expansion planned?" See also the pitch generator for construction.
Food service
Example: "We are an industrial kitchen in Belo Horizonte that supplies ready meals to companies without a kitchen of their own. We plan the menu with HR and adjust the quantity every week. How do your people get their meals today?"
Logistics
Example: "We are a trucking company in Curitiba specializing in less-than-truckload freight to the South and Southeast of Brazil. We serve manufacturers and distributors that ship small volumes often and do not want to pay for a full truck. I am looking for companies that currently hold back shipments until they have enough cargo to fill a truck."
Consulting
Example: "I am a process consultant working with family-owned retail and service businesses in Greater São Paulo that have grown and lost control of the daily routine. I organize routines and roles so the owner can step out of the operation. Who makes the day-to-day decisions there?" To adapt it, use the pitch generator for business consulting.
Sales representation
Example: "I am an independent sales representative in the interior of Minas Gerais, and I visit supermarkets and wholesalers in the region every week. I am looking for food and cleaning product manufacturers that want to enter this market without building their own sales team. Do you already sell in the interior of Minas?" Prepare the 30-second version
You do not always get a full minute. In the coffee line, at the start of a conversation that began late, or when someone asks in passing, you need the short version. It has about half the words and only three parts: who you are, what you do and for whom, and the question.
Example, based on the trucking company's pitch: "We are a trucking company in Curitiba moving less-than-truckload freight to the South and Southeast, for businesses that ship small volumes often. How do you handle freight for those loads today?"
To get there, cut the history and the list of services first, then the differentiator. The client and the question never go: without them, the other person cannot tell whether this has anything to do with them.
How to practice the pitch before the conversation
A pitch that was written and never spoken sounds stiff. Practice takes little time and pays off.
- Read it aloud and time it: if it runs over one minute, cut. If it is far below, the client or the question is probably missing.
- Record it and listen: you will notice the sentences nobody really says out loud. Replace them with your everyday words.
- Test it on an outsider: ask someone from another industry to repeat what your company does. If they cannot, the pitch is still unclear.
- Practice on camera: in a video conversation, looking at the camera and speaking a little slower makes a difference.
- Adjust after every conversation: write down the sentence that sparked interest. The pitch gets better with use.
After the conversation, what decides whether the contact becomes business is what you do in the following days: the guide on following up after a business meeting shows what to send and when.
Where to start
Pick the example from the industry closest to yours, rewrite it with your own details and compare it with a version from the generator. Time the 60-second and the 30-second versions and practice both out loud until they come out without reading.
Your company's first online business round is on us: all you need is an active CNPJ (the Brazilian company registration number), once per CNPJ, and contact details are only shared when both sides mark interest.
