After following hundreds of rounds, certain patterns of mistake keep repeating. Knowing them in advance already helps you avoid them.

Talking only about your own company

Participants who spend the 60 seconds (and the rest of the conversation) talking only about themselves, without asking anything, miss the chance to spot a real opportunity on the other side.

Not taking any notes

After 5 or 6 conversations in a row, it is easy to forget important details. Without notes, the follow-up turns generic — or simply never happens.

Leaving the follow-up for later

Putting off the contact for days (or weeks) drastically reduces the reply rate. The interest cools on both sides.

Arriving unprepared

Turning up without a defined pitch, without knowing what you are looking for, wastes precious conversation time — time you do not get back.

A poor video-call setup

A camera turned off, bad audio or heavy background noise harm the quality of the conversation and give a distinctly unprofessional impression.
